In 2021, the Commerce Hub was provided the opportunity to begin the creation and implementation of a training academy that would focus on historically underutilized businesses. From that opportunity, the Business Development Training Academy (BDTA) was developed; one of the three pillars in the Center of Equity and Excellence in Aviation (CEEA) program.
Monica Gilbert, COO of Fortified Development was selected to be one of the inaugural participants in this program. She brought the experience of the only female/black owned construction company in the program.
